The will to fight against deception

Several years ago, my brain started developing into what you would call an “adult brain”. Psychologists say that your brain hasn’t fully developed until you are the age of 25. I do know that the part of your brain that is able to analyze “cause-and-effect” is basically useless until then. This is why teenagers seem like train wrecks and end up regretting so much of their younger years. I think I would like to call these “the cringe years”. Every day we lose time, and we often regret things because of the decisions we ended up making. I think we make bad decisions because we are unaware of the consequences of our actions, but also the way that we perceive things around us. It is easy to have grown up with a certain pattern of thinking and then make decisions based on a lie, or fallacy.

One of the things that thankfully, comes with age is wisdom and wisdom comes from experience. This is exactly why seeking advice from older people, even if it is only by a few years, is so important. I almost want to say that you should have a child-like outlook on life and realize that you as an individual do not know the secrets of the universe. Something that people do not understand is that you can study the theory of a subject, but that does not mean you have practically applied it, and that makes it at least 70% more useless. It's like trying to sketch a portrait for the first time based on YouTube videos, but you’ve never put a pencil to a page in your life.

In this day and age, it is so easy to gather the information that has already been processed and synthesized through the eyes of someone else. We should probably be a little skeptical about the amount of experience the synthesizer has had in order the go along with the information. It is incredibly easy to fill your thinking with other people’s thinking. It is also easy to completely throw away or discredit information that may actually be valid and useful. Although, it seems to me that people are too lazy to think for themselves and fight against the potential of deception.

As human beings, we are capable of making decisions. Our decisions are based on information we have on hand and what we choose to fill our minds with. I would say to be careful with the way that you think. Check up on yourself and ask others who have more experience in life. Let us minimize our amount of regret by taking up the courage to make sure what we believe is true.
